THE State Opposition has criticised the Government's decision to relocate Brunswick Special Development School to Heidelberg.
Opposition education spokesman Martin Dixon said a lack of consultation with parents showed ``Labor arrogance''.
The decision to move the 67-student school in Wales St, Brunswick West, to a new purpose-built facility 10km away in 2011 was officially announced last month.
The plan has outraged parents concerned about lack of consultation and increased travel times for students, who have moderate to profound intellectual disabilities.
Pascoe Vale state Labor MP Christine Campbell last year called on Education Minister Bronwyn Pike to compel the school to examine alternative sites within Moreland.
Mr Dixon met concerned parents at the school last week and has backed their calls for it to remain in Brunswick.
He said a new school could be built on the existing site or at the Trinity Campus of Antonine College in Saxon St, Brunswick, due to close at the end of this year.
