Letter to the Editor
The Southern Peninsula Rescue Squad's decision to no longer operate a helicopter as part of its rescue services is the end of an era.
I know it has been a difficult decision for the Squad to make but I respect their reasons for doing so.
Praise is due to community sponsors, volunteers and members of the Squad that have carried the massive expense of buying, maintaining and operating the Squad's helicopters for so many years - the Squad has been unique in Australia in this regard.
I know the Squad will continue their fantastic work in protecting locals and visitors who use the bay.
Yours sincerely
